Corey Hawkins and Alan Williams-D1 AllStars

Both Corey Hawkins(Estrella Foothills) and Alan Williams(North) will be participating in the NABC Reese's® Division I College All-Star Game
Friday, April 3, at Lucas Oil Stadium. Corey Hawkins will also be participating in the 3pt shooting contest that airs on ESPN tomorrow. I don't think enough has been said about either player on this website. Both have had stellar careers for UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara and both have a great chance to get drafted in this years NBA Draft. Congrats to both on great careers!!!

Reese’s® Division I College All-Star Game

Team Bibby teams

Team Bibby won 16's and 17's…they were tough, physical and efficient all weekend. Great ball movement and unselfish players. Outstanding chemistry-fun to see. They play for 1 another. Other Elite teams like Magic and Bibby gives them fights but still trying the find their identities. It would be interesting to see these teams end of July.

The 17U Magic game vs Bibby was a blowout to start game in the semis but then Magic grinded it out for a close game. Only lost by 6-8 points when they were at one point down by 18ish.

The 17U Power game in Finals vs Bibby was a 16 point win for Bibby. I was sitting with AZNative. Foul count wasn't great. around 20-9 in Bibbys favor. Many techs thrown. Power Coach Ortega got thrown out. Which is now 1-1 club coaches being thrown out in this fun rivalry(Bibby got thrown out on Tuesday in the ACBL.

16U Team Bibby beat I-10 Celtics in finals but first beat a tough Magic team in the semis. Team Bibby kids once again wired to win.

15U Chip winners was a team from Indiana called I-10 Midwest. They were loaded. They beat some 14U team I think. Wasn't really paying attention since most kids in their were all younger then HS.

Outstanding well run event besides some bad officiating--but that is the norm in AZ these days.

FUN STUFF..Ron always class act!

ASU Graveyard for Basketball Head Coaches

Being a long-time fan of the Chicago Cubs, I happen to know something about long-term curses. Unfortunately, the ASU basketball program has been developing quite a reputation as a graveyard for college basketball head coaches. While I understand the need to change coaches at ASU, I am hoping that Herb Sendek will break the ASU Curse, where all of our former basketball coaches have not been able to get another head coaching position after being fired from their position at ASU. In 1982, ASU mysteriously fired their most successful coach, Ned Wulk, only one year after achieving their best record in history at 24-4. Ned was a great recruiter having assembled a starting lineup of Alton Lister, Fat Lever, Bryon Scott, Sam Williams and Johnny Nash. This illogical firing of Coach Wulk started the string of fired ASU coaches who were not able to secure another head coaching position, despite their impressive track record before coming to ASU - Ned Wulk, Bob Weinhauer, Steve Patterson, Bill Frieder, Don Newman (one year interim coach), Rob Evans, and now Herb Sendek. Thus, I will be rooting for Herb to get hired again as a head coach to break this dreaded curse of the past two decades. Likewise, I will not mind if our next ASU coach elects to use ASU as a stepping stone to another better coaching position and after building a much stronger program here. We need to develop a new reputation as a place to find great basketball coaches.

ASU ---- Reported these would be great considerations

Aggie "One of my recommendations has already been contacted by ASU:"

Two coaches and ASU put up the money..... Bobby Hurley (Bufffalo), Tom Crean (Indiana) he will be gone after the tourney (or) rumor to Alabama, how about Jeff Capel (Duke) learned a lot after short stint at OU.... He is ready again... ASU needs to step up the money, as published ASU is now one of the poorest paying jobs out of the Big Five Conferences + major upgrades to facilities needed ASAP to recruit quality coach and future talent.

Been confirmed moments ago..... The Bennett's and Grace's this AD is going for name proven not folks with local connections... You want a top rate program and better arena, you need a basketball resource, with coast to coast connections..... Being a Coach k guy wont hurt.... Heck Shawn Miller at UA was the Cats fifth choice going back six years ago.... AV can tell you he was good for a period at Oklahoma replacing Kelvin Sampson.... Built programs with talent from HS/JUCO.... Plus can recruit Texas.... Money still is the issue, because he wont except for $1.2.

Just returned from the mountains - spent a few days in a cabin on a beautiful river just north of Durango. It's time to get back at it tomorrow at MCC.

I will be leading the charge coaching D4 as we take on Coach Lovely and the D3 Senior All Stars.

Question regarding the recent senior all-star games.

Many folks perceive the talent level in division 1 is higher than in division 2 and d3 is higher than d4.

But with club ball opportunities these days, I'm not so sure.

I'm curious what those of you who attended the most recent senior all-star games think. Is there a noticeable difference in talent between the divisions for this 2015 class? D2 gave D1 all it could handle, so what do you think?

And is it important for a kid to play in a higher division school if he wants to get a college scholarship? In the "old days" it seemed like kids had better opportunities by playing at a large school - is that still the case today?

State of ASU Basketball with today's announcement?

CBS Sports reports of decommitment? What does this say about Herb Sendek and the longer he stays after 10 years, the chances ASU will ever become an elite program?

In addition, his coaching staff are castoffs from Drake, NBA vagabond and the Indian Hills coach, I stated at the time of BP and his hiring, is a coaching killer. Southern Utah, Utah and now ASU..... Heck look at former Coach Mussleman and his impact with Jonnie Jones at LSU... Great recruiting class coming in...

Time for Herb to go... any one who thinks Corona Big Man attends ASU with Herb still in place - NEVER.

Former MdN and M. Ridge players on to D2 Elite 8

Longtime reader, first time poster here. Played at Marcos de Niza (C/O 2010) and returned this Winter as the Varsity Assistant under Coach Dave Stark.

Wanted to send a shoutout to the Azusa Pacific Cougars on their NCAA Division II West Regional Championship that they won last night over Cal Baptist 91-79. Former MdN forward Andy Jones (C/O 2010) has been a starter all year long and been the ultimate glue guy for the Cougars, while former Mountain Ridge star Jared Zoller (C/O 2011) has been a big boost off the bench. They will be headed to Evansville, Indiana for the NCAA Division II quarterfinals and will face West Liberty or Indiana (Pa.) on March 25th.

Congrats to them!

Side note, Gilbert Christian guard Jimmy White committed to APU a week or two ago as well. Coaching staff there has done a tremendous job recruiting the entire west coast.
