6'10" F 2018 Marvin Bagley CDS-All the superlatives have been said about him. I believe unless he has a major injury he will not only be a college star but eventually he will play professionally. I think most people believe that but never say it. Will he be a 1 and done lottery pick..time will tell..Sure looks like someone who would be one of those type of kids look like Marvin. His ability to put the ball on the floor and handle it for his size really sets him apart from all the rest. Most "BIGS" cant walk and chew gum..(JP line) let alone handle it.
I always say he's like a combo of Lamar Odom meets Chris Webber. Or how about just better version of Chris Bosh. Lofty comps for just a freshman.
6'61/2" W 2015 Dane Kuiper CDS-He is the guy that everyone overlooks in state. Funny that way. He is a great build at 200-210 lbs, super athletic, guards basically anyone on the court, super unselfish, can hit MR jumpers all day plus the 3 ball. Yet we don't talk much about him since he doesn't attempt 30 shots like others and doesn't score as much as others. The reality is--he plays like he should and plays like he will in college. Thats how college players play. Exactly what he does. Now I've heard many ppl saying he doesn't do it for me. Not aggressive enough--it may be true. But once again he plays a college game already. I believe people are sleeping on him. He should be in the Rivals150 IMO.
6'2" PG 2017 Alex Barcello CDS-This kid is a stud. He elevates high on his jumpers and is just a confident player. He lives for these moments and is a big time player. He chooses to score first then facilitate next. He can work the pick and roll at perfection and can get by his man and dish it to cutting players. He is a strong kid--people question how much better will he be in college compared to dominating HS ball. I believe he will just always contribute at any level after HS-LM/MM or High Major. The question will be does he want to be the man or a piece to the puzzle. High GPA kid too.
6'3" CG 2016 Tyrell Henderson CDS-Pure glue guy. Does everything well. No huge hole in game. Maybe not elite athlete like others but he can shoot it, handles the PG when they want Barcello to score and defends like a madman. He changed the DV game with his defense plus didn't miss a shot on day. 3-3, 6-6 FT.
JV
6'4" PF 2017 Shane Grier CDS-He has an amazing body--the Westview head coach(who I was sitting next to all night) said his body is identical to Dane Kuiper's body. Besides his obvious good features he has high skill level. He can hit shots from the 3 plus he has improved his handle and quickness since last year. He is a very good rebounder in his area and just plays the game the right way(the Corona way). He will be a good piece to the puzzle the next 2 years.
5'9" PG 2017 Dalen Dorsey CDS-Ultra quick defensive minded PG. His on ball defense is outstanding. His lateral quicks is amazing. He relishes the stopper role. He claps his hands and seriously gets into a defensive stance. Jumper is inconsistent--actually banked 2 FT's--crazy. Shows nice court vision. Came in from Indiana.
6'7" F 2015 Brandon Clarke DV-I said it before and it showed. Clarke is the only player that can effect Bagley in AZ. From blocking shots, handling the ball, taking it strong towards him and scoring with his jump stop and floating it up with what Dutch said(soft touch). Long kid--skinny--but when he fills out. He will play well at San Jose State. I love this kid. And it seems his improving heading into college as some kids level off. His best basketball is clearly ahead of him.
6'3" SG 2015 Quincy Taylor DV-Freak of nature. Best athlete in AZ and its not really even close. He had 1 dunk(that didn't count) I thought he was going to hit his head on the WAY DOWN he was so high..LOL…He basically threw the ball in!--Just insane. Good shooter when set. Solid defender--needs tighter handle but very good prospect. 1 of my favorite players to watch in AZ.
6'5" SG 2017 Caleb Simmons DV-Arguably hus best game I have ever seen him play. Simmons was everywhere. Super aggressive on defense and on the glass. He hit shots from perimeter plus just played tough and didn't back down. He was DV's most consistent player. He cemented his spot as one of the Top-10 players in his class.
FR game
6'8" C 2018 Steele Bennett DV-Real long and still growing. 1 parent told me he may be 6'9" now. Hard to tell since the freshman kids are so small. LOL. He can move up the court well and rebounds and blocks shots well in his area. He is a long ways away for major minutes on Varsity but looks to have bright future. My guess is he ends up close to 6'11".
5'10" SG 2018 Melek Alexander CDS-Real quick southpaw. Hits shots from MR and is starting to extend it to the 3. He was unmanned. His FR team isn't as loaded as last years team. They do have Bagley eventually haha. So he makes up for like 5 kids by himself. But depth wise--maybe 2/3 kids look the part. But you never know with the young ones. Anyway Alexander is a straight scorer. Smooth handle too.
The 2017 group on CDS is amazing!!!
PG Barcello 6'2"
PG Saben Lee 6'0"--INJURED
PF S. Grier 6'4"
PG D. Dorsey 5'9"
SF Seun Talabi 6'3"-Skilled scorer
SF Josh Onwordi 6'2"--track star leaper/runner
And Add Bagley..will be another elite team in 2017 too.
Scott's always right.
