The Area Codes Basketball Scouting Service presents the 7th Annual Super 80 Phoenix "Battle of the Classes" on Friday, October 13th, at Fultz Memorial Gymnasium, on the campus of Arizona Christian University, in Phoenix, AZ.
In connection with the Arizona Junior College Jamboree this event will feature high school boys’ basketball players in Arizona. Several Scouts, DII, JUCO & NAIA College Coaches will be on hand to cover the action in this event. Each game will be filmed by BALLER.TV & sent to over 300 college coaches as well as a full Super80 Phoenix scouting report on each prospect.

Hymes was at one point one of Rivals' top 50 players for the 2018 class, but he's been repeatedly downgraded over the last year and is now a three star, committed to a Group of 5 school in Nevada.

I know that Gregg thought he was initially overrated, but even he has to be surprised by the continued slide in the rankings, especially because when he looks good, he looks really good. I think for him, it's just a matter of consistency and aggression.

If Josh Green was already at Hillcrest for the elite competition, it probably makes sense for him to be at an academy with a more established track record and reputation- but in Florida? I believe he's from Australia anyway, so I suppose we were lucky to get to see him as long as we did.

The Hillcrest 2020 PG had been names a 5-star by Rivals, and the #8 overall player in the country. Greg has seen him up close, and here's what he told me about him:

"He's really intriguing. He has the body already, 220 lbs, right now, and a legitimate 6'4"-6'5", although he may be listed at 6'6". He's almost like a point guard, his body control is already like an NBA player's body control, when he bounces off you and still is able to score. He's not your elite shooter, or your stop and pop guy, but he'll guard anyone, dime you like a point guard, score inside, and still hit some three-point shots from NBA range. This kid is just going to get better and better."

Ok--These rankings will be regardless of Conference.

I'll start them after I release the state team rankings which will be prob the week before Thanksgiving week or 2 weeks before. I wait as long as I can since transfers/injuries can occur.

I thinking initially the top-5 will be some order of:
Brophy, DV, Pinnacle, Shadow, Slope.

Bagley Jr is from Durham, so this is no surprise, but the LA schools came on strong at the end, and Tucson would have reunited him with Ayton.

I saw that Obert put him as the best high school basketball player in the history f Arizona even though his career spanned about 30 games, and even though guys like Bibby are local legends, and Richard Jefferson is going on 1400 total playoff/regular season NBA games with a title in high school and the pros, as well as a strong title performance at Arizona. Thought that was a bit odd.

Do you think he'll help put Duke over the top? He's definitely a generational talent.

Just an FYI--players I rank I believe they have a legit shot at playing after HS on some level. They just need to be properly seen by coaches from their level. Outside of the easy D1 studs--it's harder to be seen sometimes by lower level schools. That's another reason why I do think players need to go to some events-not all--just enough to get your name out there where coaches read about you or may even be at the event/showcase/camp.

then after the FROSH/SOPH Areacodes event (Sept 9th)--
I'll release like 5 2021 + watch list--truth be told--I don't know too many freshman (my database currently has 20 names only)
Sooo--that is why I make my yearly trek around the state and go to actual freshman games lol and then I'll just add to the watch list as I go.

I am also slowly piecing together the final rankings of 6A-4A with POY, DPOY and breakout preseason candidates.

The SCHOLAR ATHLETE ACADEMIC SHOWCASE is presented by AREA CODES BASKETBALL SCOUTING SERVICE. This is an exposure showcase that will provide all Prospects attending an opportunity to demonstrate their skills to College Coaches, scouts and media that are expected to attend.
Exposure Camp Features:
* Get evaluated by some of the Top scouts in the country like: West Coast Hoops Report, Areacodesbasketball, Hoopsreport.com & Arizonapreps.com

* All players will be included in a special Area Codes Basketball Scouting Service & West Coast Hoops Report on each player in our specific Academic Fall Prospect Report.

* All players will participate in 2 Showcase games on the MAIN COURT *

The entire event will be streamed on BALLER.TV

All games will filmed and sent to college coaches at all levels as well as AreacodesTVnetwork on youtube.

Each Player will be required to have a 3.0 grade point average & bring a copy of their current transcript to check-in.
Players are invited from Arizona, California, Texas, Utah, New Mexico & Nevada.

Each Student-Athlete will take place in an NCAA seminar and a classroom session on recruiting and life skills, also “The Parent’s Session” will be optional.

The SCHOLAR ATHLETE ACADEMIC SHOWCASE is LIMITED to the first 40 players that register.

To my great 'old' insiders out there - if you hit me up with the good stuff I'll do my thing with it this season.

Here are some players that saw their stock go up right before the LIVE PERIOD.
Obviously nothing matters until college coaches view these kids but these prospects are playing well.

2018
6-3 PG Sam Beskind of Cat Foot (PHH 17 Black)--big strong & athletic-shot mechanics are unorthodox but makes shots. Much better facilitator than I thought. Defends at a high level. Tries dunking on any big--kind of funny.

6-10 C Steel Bennett & 6-8 F Jaden Rollins DV (Factory 17)- Both Thunder boys are rebounding the ball at a high level. Both making shots from perimeter and blocking shots. Bennett just finally looks healthy and Rollins keeps on growing.

6-3 SG Grant Greabell of Estrella Foothills (Team Zona 17)-He is a walking bucket getter. Scores the ball so effortless. MR and 3pt line. Quick trigger and unlimited range. Fun player to watch. Quicker then he appears and sees the court. If he can put on some serious muscle--watch out.

6-4 SG Isaiah Rhymes of Carl Hayden (AZ Power 17 Black)-Another really good shooter. Very good off the catch but can create his own shot. Long kid who I don't see very often and can score it.

5-11 PG Caden Hoffman of Rancho Solano Prep (PHH 17 Black)-Another player I don't see a lot. Way bigger, stronger and has better range on his jumper. Crafty floater and play maker. Can't take ball away from him. He'll break out for the Mustangs next year.

6-0 PG Tashon Brown of PV (AZ Power North 17)-Quick defensively and high % shooter. Fast in open court and plays smart game. Can score from all 3 levels. He's a reserved shooter in the HS season. Needs to shoot a lot more this year for the Trojans.

Since every interview or video of the duo over the next few years will probably be about their back stories, or offers and interest from colleges, I want to get to know them beyond that and provide listeners with some insight into their personalities.

I'll probably do it again next year.

I already had some NBA ppl reach out to me and want to be apart of it in some way--very cool.
Hopefully this will an annual kickoff to the July live periods.
